We have now been in the mountains for about 1.5 months and have just over a month to go. This hunt that is in process right now goes until September 11 and then we have 3 hunts left and we fly out October 15 or 16. So far the season has been going quite well. Blair has been able to get his first hunter a stone sheep and a goat, and now his second hunter got a grizzly bear and a goat in 3 days and is tagged out so Blair is coming back to camp early! Blair drew a grizzly tag this year as well so he might be able to get out and try and shoot one as he has extra days before the next hunt starts.
While Blair has been out guiding these past two hunts, I have been at the main base camp cooking/baking, helping with the horses and organzing food for the hunts. I get to go with Blair for the next 3 hunts though, so I am really looking forward to getting out of camp and doing some backpacking! It is getting colder now and freezing at night, so we appreciate the wood stove in our tent at camp a lot more now!
We have had pretty awesome weather so far this year. There was one week of rain/snow/fog where hunting was quite hard, but other than that, the days have been clear enough to hike and see the animals. We are hoping this great weather will continue for the next few hunts.
I will try and post some more pictures soon. A few prayer requests we have are for safety, for wisdom for Blair to know where to go to find the animals and for us to be a good witness for Christ while we are here. Thanks!
